Canadians are flocking to their local banks to invest in US dollars. With Canadian currency at an all time high and breaking the $110.00 barrier, the feeding frenzy has reached the level of the small investor.
When buying GIC’s there are a couple of pointers you might want to remember. When buying your GIC, ask your banker for their best rate. That’s right, if you dont ask, you wont get! Also don’t auto roll those GIC’s, you won’t get their best rate. Instead, wait until they phone to notify you of expiry and then ask for their best rate. This will add interest to your account at no cost to yourself. Can you say, “Thank you”.
With the falling stock market now is not the time for novice investors to be jumping in with both feet. Keep you portifolio diversified and consult with a financial planner or investment counsellor, do not risk your future without consulting with a professional.
Happy and safe investing ![]()
